Evan Goldberg: Overview

Evan Goldberg is a prominent Canadian director, screenwriter, and producer whose creative vision has significantly shaped modern comedy and genre television. Born on May 11, 1982, in Vancouver, British Columbia, Goldberg’s career is intrinsically linked to his childhood friend and longtime collaborator, Seth Rogen. The duo began writing together as teenagers, eventually penning the script for the massive hit comedy Superbad (2007), which was loosely based on their own high school experiences. This success launched a prolific partnership, with Goldberg co-writing and producing a string of successful films including Pineapple Express (2008), The Interview (2014), and Sausage Party (2016). In 2013, Goldberg and Rogen made their directorial debut with the apocalyptic comedy This Is the End. In 2011, the pair co-founded the production company Point Grey Pictures, which allowed them to expand their reach into television and more diverse genres. Under this banner, Goldberg has served as an executive producer and occasional director for several highly acclaimed comic book adaptations. He developed and executive produced the AMC series Preacher (2016–2019) and the critically acclaimed Amazon Prime animated series Invincible. Crucially, Goldberg is a key executive producer on the massive Amazon Prime superhero satire The Boys (2019–present) and its spin-off Gen V, helping to bring the show’s dark, subversive tone to the screen and cementing his status as a major force in the entertainment industry.
