Eric Kripke is a prominent American television writer, director, and producer celebrated for his imaginative storytelling and successful genre-defining series. Born on April 24, 1974, in Toledo, Ohio, Kripke developed an early fascination with filmmaking and genre fiction. He graduated from the University of Southern California’s School of Cinematic Arts, where he honed his writing and directing skills. Kripke first gained major industry recognition as the creator of the dark fantasy series Supernatural (2005–2020). Serving as the showrunner for its first five seasons, he crafted a dedicated global fan base and established the show as the longest-running American live-action fantasy TV series. Following his success with Supernatural, Kripke created the post-apocalyptic sci-fi series Revolution (2012–2014) and co-created the time-travel drama Timeless (2016–2018), both of which showcased his ability to build expansive, high-concept worlds. However, Kripke reached new heights of critical and commercial success by developing the Amazon Prime Video superhero satire The Boys (2019–present), based on the comic book by Garth Ennis and Darick Robertson.
