Daveed Diggs is a highly accomplished American actor, rapper, singer, and writer known for his exceptional talent across theater, film, television, and music. Born on January 24, 1982, in Oakland, California, Diggs developed a passion for performance and music early on, eventually earning a bachelor’s degree in theater arts from Brown University. He began his career as an experimental hip-hop artist, co-founding the alternative hip-hop group clipping., which has released several critically acclaimed albums. Diggs achieved massive international fame for his groundbreaking performance in the original Broadway cast of Lin-Manuel Miranda’s cultural phenomenon Hamilton (2015). His dual portrayal of Marquis de Lafayette and Thomas Jefferson earned him both a Tony Award for Best Featured Actor in a Musical and a Grammy Award. Following his theater success, Diggs transitioned to film and television, co-writing, producing, and starring in the critically acclaimed independent film Blindspotting (2018), which later spawned a spin-off series. He also starred as Andre Layton in the dystopian sci-fi series Snowpiercer (2020–2024) and had recurring roles in shows like Black-ish and Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt. A prolific voice actor, Diggs has lent his voice to animated hits like Soul and The Little Mermaid (2023). Recently, it was announced that Diggs would be joining the cast of the hit Amazon Prime series The Boys for its highly anticipated fifth and final season.
