She is the daughter of veteran actor Suniel Shetty and entrepreneur Mana Shetty. Athiya trained in acting and dance before entering the film industry and initially worked in fashion and modelling assignments.
She made her film debut in 2015 with the Hindi-language remake Hero, produced by Salman Khan. Following her debut, she appeared in supporting and lead roles in films such as Mubarakan (2017) and Motichoor Chaknachoor (2019).
