He rose to superstardom in the 1990s with iconic police roles in films like Commissioner, Ekalavyan, and Lelam. He won the National Film Award for Best Actor for his performance in Kaliyattam (1997). With over 250 films to his credit, he remains one of the biggest superstars in Malayalam cinema. Apart from his film career, Suresh Gopi is an active politician associated with the BJP and currently serves as the Minister of State for Petroleum and Natural Gas and the Minister of Tourism.
