Akshay Kumar, born Rajiv Hari Om Bhatia on 9 September 1967 in Amritsar, Punjab, India, is a prominent Indian actor and producer working primarily in Hindi-language cinema. He began his career in the early 1990s and became known for his athletic action roles, later diversifying into comedy, drama and socially oriented films. Over decades he has maintained a high output of releases and sustained commercial popularity.

Known for rigorous fitness and martial-arts training, Kumar built a screen persona capable of performing his own stunts and handling physically demanding roles.
