Rony David Raj, frequently credited as Dr. Rony David, is a multifaceted Indian actor, screenwriter, and qualified physician primarily active in Malayalam cinema. Born in Thrissur to film producer C. T. Rajan, Rony was raised with deep roots in the entertainment industry. However, he initially prioritized a career in medicine, earning his Bachelor of Medicine and Surgery (MBBS) from Vinayaka Mission’s Medical College and successfully practicing as a physician at KIMS Hospital in Thiruvananthapuram.

Despite his medical career, his inherent passion for cinema eventually drew him to acting. He made his cinematic debut in the 2006 film “Pachakuthira.” Over the next decade, he steadily built his acting portfolio, but it was his highly appreciated role as the strict yet endearing Chacko Sir in the 2016 coming-of-age film “Aanandam” that brought him significant mainstream acclaim.

Rony’s talents extend beyond acting into screenwriting. He is the brother of renowned cinematographer and director Roby Varghese Raj. The siblings notably collaborated on the critically acclaimed 2023 crime thriller “Kannur Squad.” Rony not only delivered a strong acting performance in the film but also served as its co-screenwriter.
