Zarina Wahab: Overview

Zarina Wahab (born 17 July 1959) is a prominent Indian film and television actress whose career spans over five decades across Hindi, Malayalam, Tamil and Telugu cinema. Born in Visakhapatnam, she trained at the Film and Television Institute of India (FTII), Pune, and started her career in the mid‑1970s. Her breakthrough came with Basu Chatterjee’s Chitchor (1976), and she went on to star in critically acclaimed films such as Gharonda (1977), Chamaram, Madanolsavam and later My Name Is Khan (2010). Zarina often portrayed relatable middle‑class characters with emotional depth and is celebrated for her natural acting style.
