Born May 4, 1970 in Lusaka, Zambia to New Zealand parents Vernon Wright and Dinah Priestley, Tandi Wright grew up in Wellington and trained at Victoria University and Toi Whakaari. Her 30+ year career began with Shortland Street (1992-1995), followed by cult appearances in Xena: Warrior Princess and Hercules. At 5’7″, Wright’s distinctive presence shone in genre hits like Peter Jackson’s Heavenly Creatures and Black Sheep, alongside prestige work including Jane Campion’s Bright Star and Robert Connolly’s The Dry. Married to actor Michael Beran with one daughter Olive, she balances family with professional output.
