Ismail Darbar: Overview

Ismail Darbar is an Indian music director and composer whose work is rooted in Hindustani classical music and adapted for mainstream Hindi cinema. Trained in classical traditions, he became widely known for his film scores in the late 1990s and early 2000s, most notably for his collaborations with director Sanjay Leela Bhansali.

Darbar’s compositions for films such as Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam (1999) and Devdas (2002) brought him mainstream recognition and showcased his aptitude for fusing classical elements with cinematic arrangements.
